The price to register a domain name in .COM/.ORG/.NET/.INFO/.BIZ/.NAME is 12euros (about $10) VAT (sales tax) excluded.
At registration, you can choose for how many years in advance you would like to pay
(10 years at most, and at least 1 year for .COM/.NET/.ORG and 2 years for .INFO/.BIZ/.NAME).
At each renewal, you will decide how many years you would like to add.

You can easily convert 12 euros to any currency using the currency converter at Yahoo

If the domain name is not renewed, it will be deleted around one month after expiration. From the expiration date on,
the domain name will cease to work, as well as the website using it.
Domain names handled by Gandi are NOT automatically renewed. Payments must explicitely be made.
Contacts will receive renewal reminders 30 days then 15 days before expiration, then at expiration
(it is thus important that e-mail addresses of billing contacts are valid).
However renewal can happen at any time during the life of the domain name. See our link on main page.

If you are an individual living in France or in any other country within the European
Union, you will be charged a 19.6% VAT. If you are a company located in France you will
have to pay for it as well.
If you are a company located in any other country within the European Union you need not
pay for VAT but you will have to provide us with the VAT number which has been
allocated to you for any intra-EEC trade.
If you are not from the European Union you need not pay for VAT.

No. The 12euros registration fee includes everything you will have to pay to register your domain name
for one year.
It includes ONLY registration of your domain name, and not any webhosting.
Gandi services (like web/email redirections, secondary DNS, custom DNS) are free
(included in the fee).

The current expiration date will be extended by one year after the transfer is done by the new Registrar.

to Verisign Global Registry Services for management of the worldwide domain name database.
